Our award winning Outer Reef and Whitsunday Island tour offers guests the opportunity to dive at some of the best dive sites on the Great Barrier Reef and visit the beautiful tropical Islands of the Whitsundays including a visit to the iconic Whitehaven Beach.

Over two and a half days you will be able to dive at a maximum of 8 dive sites, observe some of the most amazing aquatic species here on the Great Barrier Reef, sail on the blue tropical waters and relax in our onboard jacuzzi.

This tour is designed for certified divers and also guests who would like to try Scuba diving for the first time, non-divers are also welcome as snorkeling is offered at every dive site. Emperors Wings has large spacious shared cabins with very comfortable single or queen size beds and is fully air-conditioned throughout which is a key feature in the tropical climates of the Whitsundays.

There are five professional, friendly crew on board to give guests a fun safe sail and dive adventure tour. This live aboard is a major highlight for anyone visiting the Great Barrier Reef.

Additional Information

Day 1: Depart Airlie Beach at 1pm    You will be greeted by our Wings crew and invited on board where lunch will be served. Once you've been orientated around the vessel relax and take in the scenery as you sail to your first dive and snorkel location.   After the snorkeling and diving has finished its back on board for a beer and some sunset snacks whilst you cruise to your overnight anchorage. After diner crew will invite you to view an eco slide show, showing you some photos of what you may see and observe underwater and also pictures that have been taken whilst diving that day. Look out after dark for shooting stars or sit on the back deck and watch the fish swim in and out of our underwater blue lights.  Day 2:  After breakfast you will be taken to the magnificent Whitehaven Beach where you will be able to explore the beautiful white silica sands of Whitehaven. You will be taken on a short bush walk to the lookout where you will be able to overlook the entire beach in its finest glory. This is a picturesque setting and great for photo opportunities.   Once back on board sit back and relax while we sail out to Bait Reef which is situated in the Outer Great Barrier Reef.   You will have the opportunity to participate in a scuba dive once we arrive at the reef and if we still have enough daylight another dive shortly after. Certified divers will then have the opportunity to participate in a night dive and it is a fantastic night dive. The reef comes alive at night with different species of fish and crustaceans coming out to feed. Reef Sharks, Trevally, Flowery Cod and free swimming moray eels and lets not forget the sleeping turtles.  Day 3:  If you are an early bird a real treat is waking up for sunrise as it creeps over the horizon its truly a fantastic display and great a photo opportunity. An early morning dive at another dive site is available for the keen diving enthusiasts and for the slow risers there is one straight after breakfast.   We will stay at Bait Reef or a surrounding reef until mid afternoon so there is a possibility of diving up to 4 times on Day 3.

Things To Bring

Intro divers just need a sense of adventure. Certified divers please bring certificatication & log books. Beach towel, Hat, sunglasses & sunscreen. Toiletries. BYO alcohol (no glass). All packed in a soft bag. Credit card or cash for scuba diving or merchandise purchases onboard.

Cancellation Policy

All prices are per person in AUD and include GST, National Park and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park entry fees, administration fees, professional skipper and crew, live-aboard accommodation, all meals, fresh linen and use of wet suits and snorkelling equipment. SCUBA Diving is optional and rates payable on board. Our vessels allow guests to bring their own (BYO) alcohol to enjoy responsibly on board at no charge. Our vessels provide bottled water and soft drinks for purchase on board.

Prices are based on multi-share accommodation. Prices do not include air fares or transfers. Cancellations made less than 21 days before departure will result in complete forfeiture of the full ticket price. We reserve the right to substitute vessels without notice at any time for any reason. We recommend you take out travel insurance.

Clients should note that adventure travel involves risk. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard guests, we cannot be responsible for any damage, personal injury or loss due to the actions of passengers that are beyond our control. All cruises are subject to weather and the vessel operator’s discretion. At certain times of year ‘dangerous’ jellyfish inhabit these waters and passengers should take care for their own safety. Passengers entering the water do so at their own risk and the owners or operators of the vessel will not be liable for any personal injury, illness, death or any other consequences whatsoever of passengers being stung by jellyfish.

To minimise this risk you will be provided with a full length protective ‘Wet Suit’ to wear whilst swimming and snorkelling during the cruise. Whitsundays Sailing Adventures.com and Wings Diving Adventures management, employees and agents are not the owner or operator of any vessel on which any passengers sail. Accordingly, it shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any injury to person or property which is suffered or sustained by any passenger as a result of participating in any of its sailing adventures, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
